October 18, 2014 Canon held its 2nd University Photo Marathon at De La Salle University in Manila.
More than 350 students participated from 65 different schools from all over the Philippines. Some of the schools that participated were The University of Sto. Tomas, De La Salle University, Ateneo de Manila and Assumption College which was held tat the Henry Sy Building.
The Photo Marathon had 2 categories:
1. Point and Shoot which is basically for the Compact Digital Camera and
2. The Interchangeable Lenses category for those with EOS DLSR and EOS M-Mirrorless cameras
Expert photographers from the Philippines acted as judges, names members from the Canon’s Crusaders of Light – Raymund Isaac, Jo Avila, Jay Tablante, Doc Marlon Pecjo, Val Rodriguez, Wig Tsymans, Sara Black, Ernie Sarmiento, Jun Miranda, John Chua, ELy Teehankee, Jun de Leon and Dino Lara.
Various Canon Camera’s and lenses were also on display during the Photomarathon for participants to look at and test.
One of the best things I saw that I liked was this almost 600,000 peso lens. And also the awesome drone piloted by Mr. John Chua.

September 22, 2014.. The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS was launched which features a 65x optical zoom with the world’s highest zoom ratio in its class along with the PowerShot G7 X with a fast f/1.8 – f/2.8 lens with a 24-100 mm ( 35 mm film equivalent) which will have an initial production of 50,000 and 40,000 units respectively.
Canon EOS 7D Mark II is the new flagship APS-C DSLR which features dual DIGIC 6 image processors, a rich 20.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and a new mirror and shutter system which allows for high speed continuous shooting of upto 10 frames per second. The EOS 7D MarkII also features a double memory card slots for both CF and SD card slots. An optional upgrade is also the wireless file transmitter which supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n network connections.
Canon also launched 2 new lenses for the EOS series which is the EF24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM and the EF-S24mm f/2.8 STM.
