Let us join Bamboo in embracing the great outdoors when “The Sandbox” officially opens in the 12th of April, 2014 at ALVIERA Porac, Pampanga

Hi avid readers! Summer welcomed us in the Philippines with arms wide open, it speaks to us to have fun, and there is no other way to do it than to enjoy the great outdoors. Last April 5, 2014 I was one of the few people who went to “The Sandbox” in ALVIERA Porac, Pampanga. Hearing the name of the place actually gave me an idea that we will be having first hand experience of adventurous activities which will pump up my adrenalin like it has never been before.

The Sandbox in ALVIERA Porac, Pampanga is the very first outdoor adventure themed park in the Philippines. It is packed with almost everything you can think of that equates to fun and a healthy dose of challenge. The first attraction that greeted all the attendees is the Giant Swing, it is in fact the largest swing I have ever seen as it brings you back and forth 10 meters above the ground (“I’m pretty sure it felt a lot higher while I was on it though”) for about almost three to four minutes, (“I swear, it felt like 10-15 mins.”). I was able to ride it myself and it seemed so easy looking at it from afar. Watching the kids riding it like it was an ordinary swing made me feel encouraged at first. When we were being pulled up to launch the first swing, I felt like I was hanging by a thread and my hands got colder by the second even if it was scorching hot that day. Every pull and push of the swing made me scream my lungs out, it was one thrilling ride that I will never ever forget. Not to mention, now I get to brag about it since my friends and relatives do know I have an exaggerated fear of heights. It was really a great accomplishment.

The swing was just one of the many everybody can enjoy. Another attraction that caught our attention is the” Aerial Walk“. This is a high rope adventure course of nets and rope walkways, it includes some obstacles while high above the ground; about three to four meters. I wasn’t able to try it because fear got the best of me , but I know a lot of active people who likes challenges will enjoy the full thirty minutes  defying gravity while doing some fun obstacles along the way which makes you crawl, climb, hang, glide and a lot more.

The next one is my ultimate challenge and accomplishment, which I am so proud to share that I did fight my fear and it felt amazing after.  The “Adventure Tower” is a five-storey structure which caters as a start point for the first ever roller coaster zip line in the whole wide world and  others like rappelling, wall climbing, free-fall jump  while it also serves to be a watch tower so people can see and enjoy the sight of the place live in a panoramic view on a 360 degrees vision magnitude. Amongst those mentioned, I did rappel from the top to bottom with the assistance of friendly, supportive and highly-equipped technical team in the tower. It took me about 20 minutes i think before I had full courage and determination to pursue, I was already giving up but the guys didn’t and so I slowly learned what part of the ropes to control and maneuver while going down slowly back to the ground. When I finished, everything was initially a blur but I remembered hearing claps and a lot of “Congratulations” and “You did it, good job”.  It is one of the accomplishments I would not forget ever and it happened in Sandbox where I was safe and cared for.

There is a lot of other different stuff you can actually enjoy with your family and friends here in The Sandbox. they also offer ATV rides, biking in a 5,000 sqm pump track, kiddie playground, picnic area, mini golf, camping sites, a courtyard and an open field for sports and other outdoor activities that would suit anybody’s adventure-seeking appetite. It is perfect for young people who want to give in and test how far can they physically go and have fun while trying out all of Sandbox’s attractions.
