Last 30th of January 2014, I joined PhilAm Life Binondo in celebrating the welcoming of the Chinese New Year for the Wooden Horse and also in discussing what the Filipino people can be excited about in terms of Life Insurance as well as convenience and comfort for the policyholders whom the company consider as Life-long Partners.
The Life Insurer’s Chinese New Year celebration is, first and foremost; a gesture of solidarity with and respect for the Filipino-Chinese community, according to Jessica Abaya, Philam Life Head of Marketing. “Philam Life is part of the AIA group, a leading Pan-Asian life insurance organization across Asia Pacific, which has roots in Shanghai, China. This celebration is important to us as it affirms our deep roots in Aisa”, she said.
Philam Life greatly recognizes the unique needs of the Chinese community in terms of the Life Insurance interests. Their order of priorities is characterized by their preference for products with earning potential, thus the tendency to purchase investment or savings products.
During the welcoming of the Lunar New Year, we first were able to witness the traditional Dragon and Lions Dance. There was the actual dance, the throwing of candies, coins and kiat-kiat; the dotting of the eyes and tongue of the dragon, the biting and eating of the “ampao” by the dragon to serve as an offering for great prosperity and luck all throughout the year 2014. I find the dragons and lions so cute, probably because they’re not the actual creatures; but the thought of these giants dancing around for luck gives me a small grin on the face.
After the dance, we went in for lunch and had a press conference about what Phillam Life will bring to the table for customers this year 2014. It began with a quick recap for last year’s achievements. In 2013, the Philippine’s largest life insurer reinforced it’s leadership when it bested 16 other AIA countries and won both AIA Premier League Gold Cup and the AIA Champions League Gold Cup. This recognition highlights Philam Life’s outstanding performance in achieving its growth targets specifically in new business and annualized new premiums. The award also recognized the company’s leadership style that focuses on continually improving the quality of the company’s business.
Comfort, Convenience and Technology
The nine-time Reader’s Digest Asia Platinum Trusted Brand award winner is set to become the first local insurance company to sue an iPad-based Interactive Point of Sale (iPoS)- a paperless platform that allows a potential policyholder to get a life insurance plan based on needs analysis in one sitting with the use of a tablet. With iPoS, proposal presentations, filing out of policy owner details and even signing of application can now be done through the financial adviser’s iPad.
The company is also launching ePlan, a convenient customer self-service online facility for policy inquiries, transactions and payments. Philam Life policyholders can now choose to go online, instead of calling the hotline, for faster and real-time transactions.
“we’re beefing up our payment and collection system in partnership with major financial institutions so our clients can do more with their time by having options to transact through channels which are most convenient for them,” Centeno said. Starting this year, Philam Life policyholders can transact over-the-counter in more than 3,000 bank partner branches and payment centers.
After hearing from Philam Life, I thought to myself that , “we live in an uncertain world and all the choice we have is to prepare”. I know I gotta make some more reading about life insurance, at least I got to know which company I can trust.
