We all know the scary magnitude of how the super typhoon Yolanda had hit Visayas. We did see it on local TV news every single day right after what happened. The toll on the dead bodies plus those injured and sick kept on increasing like the numbers in the stock market. We even had the International Community in our soil who helped us and have been helping us, as a country stand up again from the disasters we have experienced. Now is the time that we, as part of the  National Capital Region give back in our own way in the best possible we can. we don’t need to go there, we don’t even need to sacrifice for them; what more do we metropolitan people do best but party?! So On January 15, 2014, SMART Communications and Coca-Cola will bring us  “Voices for  Visayas”, a benefit concert unparalleled by any of its kind since it will be the biggest and the grandest of them all.

The major participants of this benefit concert are; Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales, Concert King Martin Nievera, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, Singer and Songwriter Ogie Alcasid, and Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma

“We are thankful to all of the many artists and sponsors who have come together to make this a meaningful event for the typhoon survivors. Now that we are at the rehabilitation stage, it is critical for us to keep up the momentum of support. Proceeds of this concert will go to Gawad Kalinga and Habitat for Humanity for the rebuilding of houses and shelter in the affected communities,”

sayPDRF President Butch Meily.

It is both exciting and inspiring that the celebrities mentioned gave their time and talent before those who needs it the most and they are those who suffered from the Super Typhoon, they are not just mere casualties; they are also citizens of the country, Mothers, Dads, Sons and Daughters and most especially they are like all of us who deserve dignified living.

I hope that the efforts to help our fellow countrymen rise from the shadows of mishaps and again see the sunlight of a bright tomorrow through our help and inspiration. Thank you Smart Communications and Coca- cola for helping on making this endeavor already a success.

Set up to facilitate private sector preparedness for and response to disasters, PDRF has initiated efforts to repair and rebuild classrooms damaged by Typhoon Yolanda and to revive local businesses in the affected areas.

In addition to this benefit concert, Smart continues to help typhoon survivors through its global multi-channel crowdfunding campaign helpPH and through partnership with aid organizations and international charitable institutions.
