WordPress Meetup with Matt Mullenweg

Have you ever thought about who designed wordpress and how it got started? Have you ever wanted to hear it from the founders themselves?

Well, a couple of days ago, I got the chance along with 100 or so other bloggers to meet up with Matt Mullenweg, one of the co founders of WordPress and he gave us the low down on how it got started.

TO cut the story short – Matt’s background has ever been influenced bu computers and his Dad, and the trip into history started when he wrote a short snippet as a hack for a very popular platform and the lead developer at that started his way to founding wordpress.

Here are some take aways I got from the short meet….

1. Matt and wordpress believes in freedom of speech.
2. WordPress.com has its set of rules for a takedown on any blog that they host that violates the rules:
Here’s a short snippet of the 1st rule…

Your WordPress.com Account and Site. If you create a blog on the Website, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and blog, and you are fully responsible for all activities that occur under the account and any other actions taken in connection with the blog. You must not describe or assign keywords to your blog in a misleading or unlawful manner, including in a manner intended to trade on the name or reputation of others, and Automattic may change or remove any description or keyword that it considers inappropriate or unlawful, or otherwise likely to cause Automattic liability. You must immediately notify Automattic of any unauthorized uses of your blog, your account or any other breaches of security. Automattic will not be liable for any acts or omissions by You, including any damages of any kind incurred as a result of such acts or omissions.

3. WordPress believes that bloggers should have a code of Ethics in dealing with their readers and clients and generally overall conduct. ( which the PBNET firmly believes in too)
