Government and Private sector needs to work hand in hand to solve the Traffic Problem

Traffic is a perennial problem anywhere in the world. But, one of the main differences is the implementation of traffic laws and discipline for all road users. Add to that, a proper public mass transportation system.

If there are no solutions found and implemented to help decrease the traffic congestion in the Philippines, the country will lose an estimated of 5.4 billion pesos everyday according to the study made by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency.

Angkas has been a major contributor in being able to provide alternative transport for the majority of the Filipinos who avail of their services daily.

Motorcycle taxis has been around already for a long time, the only thing that Angkas has done has been to provide a system and protection for all stakeholders.

Angkas with it’s 27,00 biker partners is currently in a dry run for a 6 month trial with the DOTR in Manila and Cebu. All riders need to comply with the new safety protocol training as mandated by the DOT Technical Working group and so far, has been able to maintain a 99.997% safety record. Angkas is now currently on the 2nd full month of the 6 month trial with DOTR.

Solving the current traffic situation needs the cooperation of everyone involved. The Government, Private Sector and the commuters.

One of the probable solutions to solve this is to have a more comprehensive education concept about traffic and laws to the students to help them know about the responsibilities of everyone that is on the road.
